Landfills are climate disasters. We turn them into renewable power plants. With full-stack hardware & software built in-house, we cut methane, generate clean energy and deliver real-world impact
We usually respond within a week
Who we are
At Hydryx, we’re turning landfills into climate solutions. Landfills are one of the biggest blind spots in climate tech. They leak methane, one of the most potent greenhouse gases, into the atmosphere for decades. We think that’s fixable.
Founded in 2023, Hydryx builds technology that makes landfill gas systems work like they should. We replace outdated, manual infrastructure with fully automated systems. Our platform combines on-site sensors, real-time monitoring, and an AI-driven control algorithm to capture more gas, reduce emissions, and generate clean power.
The entire stack is built in-house; hardware, software, cloud, and installed directly in the field. No assumptions, no black boxes. Just better control, better outcomes, and a real path to decarbonizing waste.
And honestly, the fact that this sector isn’t “sexy” is exactly why it’s so interesting to us. It’s overlooked, underserved and full of low-hanging climate wins.
We’re based in Amsterdam, scaling fast, and hiring. If you want to work on real-world climate problems, ones you can see, touch, and fix, come build with us.
Your role
You are addicted to solving puzzles. You love staring at graphs, analysing live data streams, and questioning every decision the system makes. You’re obsessed with our front-end; constantly checking valve positions and gas readings. Is our algorithm working as it should? Why did we make this decision? Can we do better?
Your work builds Hydryx’s core USP and IP, the intelligence that makes landfills behave like renewable energy plants. It’s exactly as important as it sounds.
The models you deploy will have an instantaneous real-world impact on reducing emissions and optimizing renewable energy generation
Responsibilities
Own the Hydryx control algorithm, from model design to live deployment
Analyse real-time landfill data and continuously improve model accuracy
Build, test, and refine forecasting algorithms for gas composition and well interactions
Integrate external data (weather, pressure, temperature) to enhance predictions
Collaborate closely with the Operations team to turn field insights into control logic
Design A/B experiments to test control strategies and quantify performance improvements
Work with the CTO and embedded engineers to bring models to life in the field
Who you are
Proven track record building forecasting or control algorithms
Experience with time-series modeling, ML, and AI forecasting
Background in energy systems, process control, or environmental data preferred
Advanced proficiency in Python
Skilled in API development with a strong understanding of REST API principles
Understanding of core AWS cloud services (RDS, EC2, Lambda, Sagemaker)
Experience with cloud deployment (Containerisation, CICD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, etc.) and MLOps practices
Strong communication skills and comfortable collaborating across hardware, data, software, and operations teams
Show us the hardest problem you worked on.
What we offer
Work that matters. You’ll build systems that capture landfill methane, turn it into energy, and cut one of the world’s biggest climate problems down to size. Real tech, deployed in the real world
Amsterdam as home base. We’re building both a product and a team, and for that you need to be in the room part of the week. How you manage that balance is up to you, but collaboration happens fastest in person.
Upside that’s real. We offer a competitive salary, growth opportunities, and meaningful stock options, because if we win, you should share in the value created
Ownership from day one. The learning curve is steep, the feedback is direct, and we’ll throw as much responsibility at you as you can handle. It’s simple: the more you raise the standard, the more trust and ownership you earn
Good times included. From free daily healthy lunches and Friday beers to team dinners and a ski trip in February, we work hard, but we also make time to celebrate the ride together

About Hydryx
Landfills are responsible for 6% of global emissions. Yet we believe that under every landfill lies a powerful opportunity, and that great landfill management is a key part of the circular economy. We started Hydryx to prove that with the right technology, we don’t have to choose between a solid business case and climate action. We can have both.
